Born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Ektor holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts, with honors (Magna Cum Laude), on Imaging and Digital Design from the School of Plastic Arts and Design of Puerto Rico.
For many years, Ektor Rivera worked as an independent graphic designer in various companies dedicated to entertainment; designing graphics and concepts for musical productions, television, film and theater.
His first individual exhibition was Persuasions (2007), where he explored the meaning of imperceptible emotions through figures. His most recent solo exhibition, Puerto Rico in Mi (2019), was showed at the prestigious Museo de las Américas of Puerto Rico, obtaining great attention from the press media and the general public.
In 2023, actor & playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with his father Luis A. Miranda Jr. and producer Ender Vega, commissioned Ektor Rivera to create a painting as part of a living tribute to Rita Moreno. The piece, measuring 8’x11′ and created in oil and acrylic on canvas, is now part of the private and permanent collection of the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Ektor also stands out as a singer and actor in theater, television, and film. Among his most notable achievements are his performances as Emilio Estefan in the musical “On Your Feet” on Broadway, Perón in the musical ‘Evita’ in London, and as a main performer in “Q’Viva The Chosen” at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Additionally, he starred in “In the Heights” at the Coliseum of Puerto Rico, playing to a full house.
In 2021, Ektor’s outstanding portrayal of Daniel Santos in the film “La Última Gira” earned him prestigious accolades, including the Best Performance by a Leading Male and Best Musical Performance awards at the esteemed Skiptown Playhouse International Film Festival in Hollywood, CA.
